The Faculty of Composition, Conducting and  Music Theory offers two fields of study:

  • Conducting,
  • Composition and Music Theory (with two specializations).

First cycle studies (bachelor’s course) – field of study: CONDUCTING, specialization: ORCHESTRAL AND OPERA CONDUCTING – prepares students to work as conductors of symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles and vocal-instrumental ensembles. Students prepare for undertaking music activity at cultural institutions and media as well as performing cultural animation in society. The graduates can continue their education at second cycle studies (master’s course).

Second cycle studies (master’s course) – field of study: CONDUCTING, specialization: ORCHESTRAL AND OPERA CONDUCTING – educates conductors of symphony orchestras in the scope of broadly understood conducting activity, allowing them to:

  • hold rehearsals and concerts with symphony, chamber and opera orchestras as well as vocal-instrumental ensembles and choirs;
  • manage artistic institutions such as opera houses, philharmonics and ensemblessubsidized by local authorities; shape the artistic repertoire in these institutions; formulate development strategies for music culture of the region or city/town;
  • be involved in a didactic activity at schools – after completing teaching specialization (according to educational standards dedicated to the teaching profession).

The graduate is prepared to continue education at the doctoral level ( third cycle studies).

First cycle studies (bachelor’s course) – field of study: COMPOSITION AND MUSIC THEORY, specialization: COMPOSITION – prepares for:

  • independent work in the field of music composition,
  • artistic work and feature writing in institutions promoting culture,
  • didactic activity at schools – after completing teaching specialization (according to educational standards dedicated to the teaching profession).

The graduate is prepared to continue education at the second cycle studies.

Second cycle studies (master’s course) – field of study: COMPOSITION AND MUSIC THEORY, specialization: COMPOSITION – prepares for:

  • independent work in the field of music composition,
  • artistic work and feature writing,
  • didactic activity at schools – after completing teaching specialization (according to educational standards dedicated to the teaching profession). Receiving a degree in COMPOSITION together with completing the teacher training course entitles the graduates to undertake pedagogical work comprising music appreciation, music rules, ear training, counterpoint, instrumentation, score reading, contemporary composition techniques, music folklore at all departments of music academies, pedagogical academies, universities and music schools of the first and second degree as well as secondary schools of every kind.

The graduate is prepared to continue education at the doctoral level (third cycle studies).

Specialization: MUSIC THEORY – prepares graduates to do research work, teach theoretical subjects in all types of schools and universities, work as lecturers, feature writers and organizers of music life.

First cycle studies (bachelor’s course), field of study: COMPOSITION AND MUSIC THEORY, specialization: MUSIC THEORY – prepares for:

  • research work and feature writing,
  • work in institutions promoting culture,
  • work in schools – after completing the teaching specialization (according to educational standards dedicated to the teaching profession). Receiving a degree in MUSIC THEORY together with completing the teacher training course entitles the graduates to undertake pedagogical work comprising music appreciation, music rules, ear training, harmony and harmonic exercises, counterpoint, instrumentation, score reading, contemporary composition techniques, music literature at all departments of music academies, pedagogical academies, universities and music schools of the first and second degree as well as secondary schools of every kind.

The graduate is prepared to continue education at second cycle studies.

Second cycle studies (master’s course), field of study: COMPOSITION AND THEORY OF MUSIC, specialization: THEORY OF MUSIC – helps to extend knowledge and prepare to do research work,  teach theoretical subjects in all types of schools and universities – after completing the teaching specialization (according to educational standards dedicated to the teaching profession), work as lecturers, feature writers and organizers of music life. Receiving a degree in COMPOSITION together with completing the teacher training course entitles the graduates to undertake pedagogical work comprising music appreciation, music rules, ear training, harmony and harmonic exercises, counterpoint, instrumentation, score reading, contemporary composition techniques, musical forms, history of music, music literature, music folklore at all departments of music academies, pedagogical academies, universities and music schools of the first and second degree as well as secondary schools of every kind.

The graduate is prepared to continue education at the doctoral level (third cycle studies).

The Faculty of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory offers the graduates an opportunity to continue education at postgraduate studies.
